Now that Stephen Baldwin has been cast off from Celebrity Big Brother in the UK, he’s scheming to get his real-life big brother, Alec Baldwin, to bring him to the Oscars when he hosts movie’s biggest night March 7.
“Alec hosting the Oscars is a tremendous opportunity, and it’s quite apparent from his perspective that his dream date would be… me!” the actor, 43, chuckles. “If he was ever nervous about what he was doing, I could give him a few laughs and keep him calmed down and let him have fun.”
Stephen is brimming with pride about his older bro, who is focusing on hosting duties since Oscar nominations were announced today.
“He’s on a tremendous roll at this point in his career,” Stephen tells me. “Listen, we’re four dumb jocks from Long Island, New York. We’re not supposed to be here. This is a lot of fun, and it’s very exciting.”
Stephen may have competition: Alec rekindled his romance with on/off girlfriend Nicole Seidel in 2009. What qualities does the 30 Rock star need in a woman?
“Somebody who is patient,” Stephen admits.
For Stephen, family is the key to his jovial nature. He’ll celebrate his 20th anniversary in June with wife Kennya, whom he met on a NYC subway. The couple is parents to daughters Alia, 16, and Hailey, 13.
What’s the secret?
“Uh… miraculously,” he says. “I’m married to the same woman 19 years, and in this business, that’s miraculous. But I’m very blessed. I have a great gal that puts up with me, and we take it one day at a time.”
Do the lovebirds have certain stars picked out as a “free pass” in their union?
“No, no, no, no, no,” he says. “Never had the free pass deal in my marriage. But I think my wife might consider cutting me loose for Brad Pitt. Just kidding.”
Hmm, why not?
“When true love is the case, you just want to keep it clean and be smart.”
