Pattinson Joins The Stars To Show His Support For Haiti

2010.01.19

This Friday, several concerned celebrities will be gathering to participate in the Hope for Haiti television telethon originally organized by hottie George Clooney.

And in some very exciting news to every tween and Twilight fanatic out there, Robert Pattinson will also be making an appearance.

The hottie will be appearing from London and presenting via satellite. Also set to appear from England are Jay-Z and Bono who are scheduled to perform.

But good thinking with R-Patz. That will definitely help generate younger viewers old enough to donate themselves or beg their parents to donate and help.

Other celebs helping to present or manning the phone banks will include Brad Pitt, Zac Efron, Sandra Bullock, Renee Zellweger, Colin Farrell, Courteney Cox and many more. As for performers, we’ll get a taste of Taylor Swift, Christina Aguilera, Shakira, Alicia Keys, and Bruce Springsteen.

And hosting will be George Clooney in Los Angeles, Anderson Cooper in Haiti, and Wyclef John in NYC. The benefit is scheduled to last two hours and will air this Friday on all major television networks.

Make sure to tune in AND phone in!

Enjoying some girl time, Angelina Jolie and two of her daughters were spotted at Whole Foods on Saturday (January 16) in Sherman Oaks, CA.

The “Changeling” actress along with Zahara and Shiloh (who was sporting a rather boyish ensemble), took their time and shopped around at the natural food store.

As previously reported, Angelina and Brad Pitt recently donated $1 million to Haiti, specifically to Doctors Without Borders so it can staff and equip a 100-bed tent hospital with two operating rooms.

In other news, although it was said they will not be attending, word has it there may be a possibility that the famous couple will be attending Sunday night’s Golden Globes. The family’s bodyguard was spotted at the Beverly Hilton where the awards take place.

Ke$ha Performs Live In Toronto Photo 1

Singer Ke$ha rocked it out live on MuchOnDemand at MuchMusic in Toronto last night. Now I’m going to have TikTok stuck in my head for the rest of the day. It’s the most contagious earworm ever!

In other news, Ke$ha gives Brad Pitt some positive feedback on the beard via her Twitter account:

AND KEEP IT UP BRAD! I’m PRO braids in the beard.

At least I’m assuming she’s talking about Brad Pitt – maybe I’m a bit too obsessed with his beard that I now think EVERYONE is talking about his beard. LOL!

What do you think about the outfit she wore? Did you buy her debut album?

Hollywood stars offer aid to quake-stricken Haiti

Sandra Bullock, George Clooney, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are among stars who have pledged money and time to Haiti relief efforts

Hollywood stars are lining up to offer financial aid for victims of the catastrophic earthquake which hit Haiti a week ago. Sandra Bullock, George Clooney, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are all said to have contributed $1m each in aid, while others are expected to make public appeals or appear at fundraising events.

Variety reports that Clooney will host the Hope for Haiti telethon on Friday, which will be broadcast on multiple networks in the US. Justin Timberlake is among those expected to perform, with proceeds split evenly among Oxfam America, Partners in Health, the Red Cross, Unicef and Wyclef Jean’s Yele Haiti Foundation, all of which have a strong presence in Haiti. Jean has this week been forced to defend himself against accusations that past donations were mismanaged.

In addition, Susan Sarandon and Ben Stiller are among 30 performers set to deliver calls to action on a two-hour special edition of CNN’s Larry King Live show on Monday, titled Haiti: How You Can Help. Meanwhile, the University of Kentucky raised $1m in a 4½-hour Hoops for Haiti telethon with the help of graduate Ashley Judd. Meryl Streep, Josh Brolin and Gerald Butler were said to be auctioning off their Golden Globe outfits in aid of Artists for Peace and Justice’s Haiti appeal. In New York, Gabriel Byrne is among the organisers for a Rebuild Haiti fundraiser on Thursday night to benefit Concern Worldwide and the Edeyo Foundation.

Avatar director James Cameron said after the Globes on Sunday that an international force was needed to ensure that similar disasters were met with a rapid response in the future.

“I would pose the question: why can we put a special ops force on the ground with such great effectiveness to go after military objectives, and [it] somehow eludes us to have a single ready-to-go force that can get in and set up a temporary structure to help out in this type of situation?” he said. “That needs to be developed. Not just on a national level, on an international level. We need that. We don’t have it, and we need it. It’s stupid not to have it.”
