Angelina Jolie, a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), is raising awareness about the plight of millions in flood-ravaged Pakistan. In a new interview, she pleads for help from the public and discusses how her travels abroad affect her, her partner Brad Pitt and their six children.

“I think it’s complicated,” Angelina told CNN’s Sanjay Gupta on Wednesday. “I’m here with UNHCR and they’ve been in this country for 32 years, and I’ve been here four times and there’s been four different reasons to come. If I may play devil’s advocate with the Brangeloonies for a moment, I could potentially see this, in a general sense. I think if Brad was looking for a quick piece, he would go for some quickie with a stewardess on a private jet. Have you ever heard those stories about private jets? The stewardesses come across like high-class hookers, and there are some crazy stories floating around. Something about Bill Clinton and some tech CEOs. And cocaine. And actual hookers.

Also: just one more little piece of Brangelina news. The Daily Mail claims Brad and Angelina bought a huge Italian estate. As Darren Aronofsky’s psychological thriller rallied audiences at the Venice and Telluride film festivals last week, Portman has fielded an offer from Warner Bros. to star in the drama “Gravity.” The lead in the epic survival story, co-written by Alfonso and Jonas Cuaron, has been a highly sought role for months, with Angelina Jolie pulling out of it recently.

The $80 million 3D survival story, which Alfonso Cuaron will direct, centers on a woman stranded on a space station after satellite debris slams into it and wipes out the rest of the crew. Robert Downey Jr. already has committed to a supporting role, but much of the picture is devoted to the female character, who must survive a solitary ordeal much in the way Tom Hanks did in “Cast Away” or James Franco does in “127 Hours,” another Telluride sneak screening.

In the wake of “Swan” notices, Cuaron finally got the green light from the studio to relay the offer to Portman without requiring a screen test. Portman, who couldn’t make it to Telluride’s “Swan” screenings Sunday, is expected to read the latest version of the script this week and make her decision shortly.

Although Cuaron, Downey and the studio have juggled multiple potential stars, including Scarlett Johansson and Blake Lively, none has come up all cherries. But the role now is Portman’s if she feels up for it. As an added benefit to the studio, even with a nice raise, her salary would only come in at about half of Jolie’s.

“Gravity” is slated to shoot at the end of January, before Downey goes off to other engagements.

Repped by CAA and Brillstein Entertainment Partners, Portman already has three projects on their way to theaters: the Paramount romantic comedy “No Strings” in January, the Universal comedy “Your Highness” in April and the Marvel/Paramount comic book actioner “Thor” in May.

But it is her turn as the ambitious but psychologically fragile ballet dancer in “Swan,” a role she developed with Aronofsky for years, that has wowed studios and filmmakers scrambling to cast her.

Scuttlebutt at Telluride after its first screenings is that, based solely on “Swan” reviews during the previous few days, Terrence Malick wants Portman for a Jerry Lee Lewis-related project he’s developing with Brad Pitt, and Tom Stoppard (“Shakespeare in Love”) also apparently is writing something for her. This is in addition to widespread opinion that Portman will be fielding major awards attention at year’s end.

The stop was just a layover on her journey from LA to Pakistan, which she is visiting as part of her role as a UN goodwill ambassador. She recently recorded a PSA about the flood disaster in the country, calling attention to the devastated area. Before heading off on her latest humanitarian mission, Angelina brought Knox and Vivienne to say hi to Brad Pitt on the set of Moneyball. The twins also got to come along for Angelina’s last time abroad, and their four older kids joined her in Asia in July and the Bay Area last month, though this time her trip isn’t doubling as a family vacation too.

In a celebrity world where the personalities can be as fake as their breasts, Tilda Swinton is an anomaly.

Far from the glamour of Hollywood, the actress is speaking to me from her Scottish Highland home of Nairn. Just as far from Hollywood is her latest film, I Am Love, an independent European drama that featured in the New Zealand Film Festival this year, in which Swinton plays Emma Recchi, a Russian-born Italian married to a Milanese aristocrat.

“It’s not a personal story for me, it’s nothing I particularly know about,” she says of her role as Recchi. “But it’s a subject that both Luca [Guadagnino, director] and I care about – this idea of a milieu, this particular kind of slightly edited way of living that these people are involved in and placing in the heart of it the idea of the revolution of love.”

Meaning? Well, the New York Times described the film as a “near-ethnographic scrutiny of a social class most of us only read about in glossy lifestyle magazines”.

While Recchi – a role that required Swinton to learn Italian with a Russian accent – loves her husband, she isn’t really in love with him, and so to fill that lusty void she takes up with her son’s friend. The ensuing highly stylised sex scene has been both ridiculed and lauded by critics.

“The film is really a sense-ational experience,” Swinton says. “It’s important for people to just go into their own feelings and find whatever they want there.” Watch the fleshy, naturist sequence filled with insects and make up your own mind.

To portray this “revolution of love”, says Swinton, “We needed to find an environment, a world for [Recchi] to live in that was unbreakable, that would somehow be really ruptured by this transformation for her and so we started to think about this particular, very high bourgeois world in Milan, and looked at the way in which people live their lives there.

“Of course this is not a documentary, this is a fairy story, but there is a tendency in that world, I think, to really not know each other.”

While Recchi may be the polar opposite of Swinton, the actress does not condemn her character. “She had to learn a very codified way of living so she’s never really grown herself, but she’s done an incredibly good job of walking the walk and talking the talk of this Milanese [life], but she hasn’t ever actually really dug deep into herself and worked out who she is. So the film is, as much as anything, about growing up.”

Love, Swinton believes, is all about knowledge – something missing from Recchi’s world. “To live alongside one another, even with a loving theme tune going through your head, but not really know your mother, your husband, your children, and our idea is that to really love them is to really know them.”

Swinton’s own love life has often come under scrutiny. Separated from painter, writer and father of her twins, John Byrne, with whom she remains close friends, Swinton is now in a relationship with another artist, Sandro Kopp, who is of New Zealand and German descent.

The tabloids reported Swinton was in a menage a trois, an accusation she denies. “There are some people who got a bit over-excited and went up all sorts of gum trees shall we say – insanely hallucinogenic gum trees – and had to be educated,” she told the Independent.

To the Star-Times she says, “Real company is what real love is. It’s not a conditional business, not `I will love you as long as you do this, that or the other’.”

Throughout her 30 year long career, Swinton, 49, has achieved the seemingly impossible – becoming a successful actress in both art house and mainstream films. Her big break came in 1992 with an award winning performance in Orlando, and her subsequent dips in the blockbuster pool have included solid performances in films that haven’t always matched her talents – including The Beach alongside Leonardo DiCaprio, The Chronicles of Narnia – filmed in New Zealand – Burn After Reading with George Clooney and Brad Pitt and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, also with Pitt.

She seems to move in two worlds – something summed up by her appearance at the 2008 Oscars, her famously leggy, alabaster frame swathed in a Lanvin dress yet unadorned by the usual Hollywood makeup. As her close friend and stylist Jerry Stafford reportedly said, “this is skin born of the Scottish Highlands, so why hide it? Why the hell put foundation on it and all this garish lipstick?”

Indeed, there’s little conventionally Hollywood about Swinton at all. In 1995 she took part in a performance work entitled The Maybe, where she lay sleeping for eight hours a day in a glass case for a week at the Serpentine Gallery in London, and then again at the Museo Barracco in Rome. More recently, she began staging film festivals, the first two years ago in Scotland.

“We made a film festival in a disused bingo hall which I rented in the village where I live and since then we have made two more.

“In Beijing, we made a film festival of Scottish cinema, and showed great Scottish films with Mandarin subtitles.

`Last summer we lost our bingo hall, so we decided to make homelessness our friend and go on the road with this mobile cinema, but we never intended to be reliable and so we are not doing it this year, partly because we are very tired and partly because no one expects us to do it.”

A philanthropist on the side, she co-founded the 8 1/2 Foundation – “a foundation which seeks to set up a new birthday for children on their 8 1/2 birthday, [which] is their cinema birthday,” Swinton explains.

“We hope one day that it will be a global concern and people all over the world will be able to go on to our website and look at clips of films they would never see in a multiplex or on the television and choose one and, on their eighth birthday, we will send them one in the post.”

Swinton launched the foundation in style at the Edinburgh International Film Festival. “We did this flash mob dance… it was really to celebrate the spirit. [It was] all about a kind of community of randomness. It’s about bringing people together who don’t necessarily know each other, and celebrating.”

With I Am Love she seems to be back where she prefers to be. It’s her third collaboration with Guadagnino. Their artsy 1999 debut The Protagonists was followed three years later by The Love Factory, from which time I Am Love also dates. “He’s like a cinema playmate,” she says of her director. “We dream things up together and we dare each other to do them, then we do them. I love to work in this way with film-makers… it’s a very precious thing because you kind of drum it up together and the film is pretty much what we intended to make, which is another rare thing.”

She hired a bagpiper to follow him around in full garb at the annual Vanity Fair Oscars party, after he won an Academy Award for Braveheart.

Ryan Kwanten won’t tolerate a dull moment on the True Blood set. The actor once reportedly took a cameraman’s car and filled it with ladybugs, and he gave co-star Jim Parrack a particularly hard time, convincing him he had a nose hair problem. Parrack laughed, “He kept telling me I had a hair hanging out of my nose for three days straight. I shaved my nose and he would still say [he saw] it.”

9. Seann William Scott vs. Christopher Mintz-Plasse
Seann William Scott had some fun with his Role Models co-star Christopher Mintz-Plasse when the cameras stopped rolling. He admitted to having the wardrobe staff tighten Christopher’s pants “to make him feel fatter,” and he put itching powder in his pants and dog poo in his shoes. Angelina Jolie brought Vivienne and Knox to visit Brad Pitt on the set of Moneyball in LA on Wednesday. Angelina held onto one of their blankies in her mouth as she carried the twins in one at a time. Brad is back at work after spending last weekend in New Orleans, where he looked super hot showing Brian Williams around the progress on his Make It Right homes to commemorate the fifth anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. While Angelina came along for the trip to LA, she stayed out of the spotlight. Brad will also narrate a documentary about the Saints’ Super Bowl run, while Angelina lent her star power to a different cause this week with a new PSA about the flood in Pakistan. The Jolie-Pitts are frequent jet-setters as they set up temporary homes around the world for Brad and Angelina’s work, but they also make time for family vacations and fun times wherever filming locations may take them.

There’s no mistaking it, November 2010 is the month of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I (11/19). No other film comes close to it in terms of anticipation and/or expectation. There may be a few people with little interest in the Harry Potter franchise, but certainly they are in the minority when it comes to audience members that will be checking out the first part of the final two chapters in the Harry Potter saga. This is a franchise that has grossed over $1.7 billion domestically plus an additional $3.7 billion from international markets. I think it’s safe to say a $5.4 billion franchise coming to a close is a bit of a big deal.

When it comes to the Harry Potter films there is one interesting aspect that stands out, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone is still the largest domestic grosser at the box-office out of the first six films. I expect both Deathly Hallows films will surpass it considering they are both being released in 3D, but considering the success of the franchise it’s amazing the first film still holds the #1 domestic box-office crown.

In terms of other big studio features you have Tony Scott’s Speed on a train in the Denzel Washington and Chris Pine (Star Trek) starrer Unstoppable (11/12) and The Hangover director Todd Phillips is bringing along Robert Downey Jr. and Zach Galifianakis for his comedic follow-up Due Date (11/5). Both films are interesting based solely on the talent involved, but I can’t help but feel Scott is mining the same territory he’s tackled before and Due Date looks like it may have run the risk of giving away the majority of its punchlines in its trailer.

Additional mass consumption films belong to the month’s two animated features by way of DreamWorks Animation’s Megamind (11/5) featuring the voice work of Will Ferrell and Brad Pitt and Disney’s alternate take on the Rapunzel story with Tangled (11/24). I can’t say I am immediately interested in either of them though Will Ferrell’s involvement in Megamind certainly tips what little interest I am able to muster in that film’s direction.

Two films that may manage to break out and find wider audiences are Paramount’s Morning Glory (11/12) and the Screen Gems musical Burlesque (11/24) starring Christina Aguilera in her feature film debut alongside Cher. Between the two I see Morning Glory as having much more of a chance than Burlesque primarily thanks to the fact it’s a late season dramedy with much loved talent in the form of Diane Keaton, Harrison Ford and Rachel McAdams. And with it releasing just before the Thanksgiving holiday I see it having some long legs if its any good whatsoever. Having Notting Hill director Roger Michell at the helm doesn’t hurt either.

At this point, Burlesque is just a huge question mark. Certainly Cher has talent as does co-star Stanley Tucci, but can Aguilera appeal to wide audiences? Will it be good enough to garner Oscar attention or does the fact it’s a Screen Gems release tell us all we need to know? It’s all a guessing game at this point so we’ll just have to wait and see.

Speaking of Oscar, there are a couple films vying for definite Oscar attention. Most prominently would be Ed Zwick’s Love and Other Drugs (11/24), which has been receiving acclaim for Anne Hathaway since much earlier this year. Of course, this is obvious Oscar chatter considering Hathaway plays a woman with Parkinson’s, which is always Oscar bait. However, with two trailers being released already people can’t seem to figure out if it is just another generic romantic comedy or something worthy of awards attention.

Finally we end with a pair of indie films. First is the James Gandolfini and Kristen Stewart feature Welcome to the Rileys (11/5), which was initially picked up by Apparition after a strong showing at Sundance, but was handed off to Samuel Goldwyn Films as Apparition did a little shuffling of their own. I’ve heard the film is good and delivers some great performances so I have hopes it holds up to the early buzz. The film revolves around a couple whose marriage is on the rocks when the husband (Gandolfini) meets a young prostitute (Stewart), on a business trip to New Orleans. He extends his stay to help her, as his wife (Melissa Leo) finds a way back to him.

A new study by the UK’s leading daily city deals website has revealed the top 10 famous women and men that couples would allow their other half to sleep with and not perceive it as being unfaithful, more commonly known as ‘the list’.

The study by www.Groupola.com asked 1,198 couples across the UK which celebrities their spouse would allow them to be intimate with, without classing it as cheating.
According to the research 1 in 3, 32%, of the respondents admit to having a tongue-in-cheek ‘list’ of celebrities that they are ‘allowed’ to sleep with whilst in their relationship.
Topping the poll for men is Megan Fox with 72% of the male respondents admitting she is top of their list. Brad Pitt is the most popular celebrity for women, with 69% of the women asked saying he features on their list of celebs their boyfriend would allow them to sleep with.

Elin Nordegren’s surprising tell-all on the cover of last week’s PEOPLE magazine had everyone in a tizzy, and not just because she opened up about her philandering ex, Tiger Woods. The magazine was so confident it would be a huge seller, they even raised their price and printed more copies, something they hadn’t done since they debuted Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s twins in August 2008. So did it top Angie’s tots? Not quite, but it still was a monster at the newsstands.

“Everyone at PEOPLE will be popping the champagne this morning,” an editor at a competing weekly tells me. “Early numbers show that Elin sold around 2 million copies, way up from its average of 1.4 million, yet not quite the 2.5 million Angelina sold.”

What makes these numbers particularly staggering is that unlike the $12 million dollars the glossy paid to Angelina for the exclusive first images of Knox Leon and Vivienne, they got Elin to open up for free, making this one of the most profitable issues of all time.

“This wasn’t about the money for Elin,” a friend of Tiger’s ex tells me. “It was about telling her story once and for all. She will be happy that so many people bought the issue and finally read the truth. But now she hopes they all go away and leave her and her family alone. The last thing in the world Elin wanted to be was a celebrity.”

Well, unfortunately for Elin, that cat is out of the bag, and after selling 2 million issues of a single magazine, you can bet the press isn’t going anywhere. However, Elin has a long way to go before she tops the two biggest sellers in the magazine’s 35-year history: the issue covering Princess Diana’s death (3 million) and the issue following the attacks on Sept. 11, 2001 (4.1 million copies).

This is a weird story, considering that Sandra Bullock’s big debut of son Louis was also compared to the Brangelina twins cover – only for that story, the Brangelina cover allegedly sold 2.8 million, not 2.5 million. Allegedly, Sandra’s People cover just about matched the twins’ debut in sales, or fell short by a few thousand or so. So, take it to the bank: everyone wants to read about scorned women and look at photos of babies.

Having spent the past weekend in New Orleans for the 5th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, Brad Pitt continues to do his best to help the rebuilding efforts in Louisiana.

The “Meet Joe Black” actor took time to tour the eco-housing project set up by the Make It Right Foundation, which he set up in 2007 to assist people who lost their homes in the Katrina devastation.

During his days in New Orleans, breaking reports from the AP tell that Pitt narrated an NFL documentary titled “America’s Game: 2009 New Orleans Saints” – which covers the Saints win last year over the Indianapolis Colts.

Airing on the NFL Network on September 8 at 9PM EDT, the showing comes just one night prior to the Saints’ season opener.

Sandra Bullock arrived at New Orleans’s Warren Easton Charter High School yesterday ready to cut the ceremonial ribbon at the new campus health clinic she helped fund. Much like Brad Pitt and his work with his Make It Right foundation, Sandra is dedicated to helping the Louisiana city as they move forward five years after Hurricane Katrina. While in NOLA, Sandra found time to chat with Matt Lauer - it’s her first televised interview, scheduled to air tomorrow on The Today Show, since announcing the adoption of her son, Louis, and divorcing Jesse James earlier this year. Despite all the upheaval, Sandra still considers herself to be a lucky person. She spoke to Matt about Louis’s adoption, saying, “Everything works out the way the universe wants it to work out. We had always said that it didn’t matter where the child came from. If they had issues that were medical issues, we didn’t care. It’s like the child that needed us in the home is the child that’s going to be placed.”

“We used to eat a lot at the Verti Marte,” Pitt tells the Times-Picayune. “A little bitty market with great shrimp po-boys that I couldn’t get enough of. It recently had a fire problem. But after that, we like Irene’s a lot. Antoine’s and the Windsor Court. There are so many. But in general, shrimp po-boys. I order them everywhere.”

Po-boys are some great sandwiches More than that, though, the actor seems to enjoy being part of the community.

“In New Orleans, the people are great,” he says. “We can just live and breathe and ride bikes. We can take our kids on bike rides, and local people just give us a shout-out – and let us move on. … Everybody treats us like neighbors.”

Bringing an end to her brief stay in the Big Easy, Angelina Jolie was spotted prepping for an out of town flight in New Orleans on Friday (August 27).

The “Salt” actress was chauffeured from her Louisiana abode to a local airport as she boarded a private jet with her brood of kiddies nowhere in sight.

While Ang was busy with her jet-setting ways, partner Brad Pitt partook in an interview with NBC news anchor Brian Williams in the ‘Lower 9th Ward’ section of New Orleans, Louisiana.

Remembering the 5th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, the “Fight Club” stud said, “It was unfathomable. I mean, just– you had no idea that there were families and here. It was just wiped clean. Except for the occasional pile up of homes and– on top of homes.”

Currently trying to help the rebuilding effort with his Make It Right charity efforts, Pitt added, “I mean, people’s– people build their lives here. And– and– I mean, New Orleans is a unique place to begin with. And I say– a cultural treasure trove for– for America to begin with. But the thing that struck me was that these people were trying to– you know, these people were trying to get home. And– and were having a very difficult time doing so. And as I got into and started studying it.”

Brad Pitt to Star in Red Dead Redemption Movie?

Brad Pitt is planning to make a movie version of video game hit Red Dead Redemption.

Sources say the Hollywood heartthrob is the hot favorite to play renegade outlaw John Marston in an epic cowboy shoot-em-up based on the PlayStation game.

“This is an exciting project with a great character at the center of it,” a source said.

“The idea is to make this in the style of an epic Western movie but with a few modern touches.

“Brad is perfect for the role and he is being given first refusal.”

The National Enquirer has a story this week about how Brad Pitt had some work done at the dermatologist’s office to make himself look “10 years younger” for his role in Moneyball, filming now. They have a photo of Brad that’s recent where he’s not wearing sunglasses, and his eyes look like they’re a completely different shape compared to how he looked a few months ago when he had that mangy beard. Here’s are two links to some photos of clean-shaven Brad recently, but they don’t come close to showing the very clear difference in his looks that the Enquirer does. We did our own photo comparison, but it’s not even close. Anyway, this could explain why he wore sunglasses to the premiere of Salt – he looks really different and it’s noticeable. Here’s part of the Enquirer’s piece:

You know what? I liked him better before. He’s too much of a pretty boy again now and when he gained a little weight and grew that graying beard he was sexy with a normal guy edge. That’s more attractive to me than cookie cutter perfection, maybe because it’s more accessible or whatever, but I liked it. I never got hot for skinny clean cut Pitt, but mangy beard Pitt has a real appeal for me.

Anyway as Michael K at D-Listed would write, “that’s some Benjamin Buttons sh*t.” Brad does look like he erased 10 years, and it’s not cute. Maybe it’s just from shaving his beard, but the Enquirer makes a good case that there’s some surgical/injectable intervention going on.

Oh and The Enquirer has another story this week about how Pitt may play the Swiss psychologist Hermann Rorschach, who invented the inkblot personality test. Brad looks a lot like Rorschach and supposedly his family brought it to his attention. He’s now said to be “talking to production partners” about developing a script that’s been “making the rounds” on Rorschach. The Enquirer even credits TotallyLooksLike for making a comparison between the two. I hope this film is a screwball comedy. For some reason that’s what comes to mind when I think of Brad attached to this project.

For Bollywood fans, having their idol recreated in wax must’ve been a great moment. But what disappointment when they saw the replica on the right that looks slightly Salman Khan-ish (he being another Bollywood star)!

Looking at all those celebrity replicas gone wrong makes you wonder if even famous establishments like Madame Tussauds really have only two moulds, one for female and one for male stars.

In Touch Weekly’s cover story this week seems extremely dated. I’m pretty sure In Touch and other tabloids have done the same story many times over the past five years, and ITW just changed the dates and a few specifics. The basics: Angelina Jolie is pissed off because… does she need a reason? Sigh. She’s always pissed off, in Tabloidville. She’s a very angry, bitter, nasty, contemptuous person, in Tabloidville. Anyway, Angelina’s “reason” for being angry this week is that Jane Pitt, Brad’s mother, still has an ongoing friendship with Jennifer Aniston. Because of this – and because Jane Pitt might be telling Aniston all about what’s going on in Brad and Angelina’s relationship – Angelina has decided that Jane should not babysit her children. Here’s an excerpt from ITW:

Angelina Jolie had initially planned to take a solo trip to Budapest to scout locations for her upcoming film — leaving all six of her kids at home with her partner, Brad Pitt, and his parents, Bill and Jane. Yet when Angelina was spotted in the Hungarian city on August 21, she had her twins Knox and Vivienne, 2, in tow. Posing for photos with the toddlers, she looked happy as could be.

But behind the scenes, a friend says, Angelina, 35, had other things on her mind. According to the friend, the main reason she took the twins to Eastern Europe was to upset Jane — whose ongoing friendship with Brad’s ex-wife Jennifer Aniston has Angelina seeing red.

“Angie strongly thinks that the past is the past, and Jennifer and Jane should let each other go because their friendship is disrespectful,” the friend explains. “Angie had been complaining to Brad that it’s weird for his mom to talk to his ex-wife, but Brad just brushed it off. So she decided she didn’t want Jane watching over the twins.”

Very close to Jen during her marriage to Brad, Jane seemed to take the place of Jen’s estranged mother. And that apparently hasn’t changed since the divorce. Another pal says Jane and Jen still talk at least once a month and maintain a very strong bond.

“Jane still thinks of Jennifer as a daughter,” says a pal. “She knows that Angelina isn’t happy about the friendship, but that doesn’t stop her from keeping Jen in her life.”

Jen, in turn, “consults Jane on everything from major purchases to romance to her career.” And Jane confides in Jen, as well. To Angelina, who has not always seen eye to eye with Jane, the friendship is like a slap in the face. Angelina feels that she — not Jen — should take precedence with his parents.

Blaming Brad’s ex even more than his mother, Angelina is intent on sending Jen a message: Keep away from my family. And she’s been sending that message through Jane. It’s making it very difficult for Jane, who “cherishes her friendship with Jennifer,” Jane has known Jen for more than 10 years and resents being asked to stop talking to her.

“They care about each other,” the friend says. “Jane has never kept it a secret. She doesn’t see why she has to cut off that connection.” And Brad tends to agree with his mother. “He thinks Jane is a grown woman and she should be able to do what she wants.”

First of all, I don’t buy this dynamic AT ALL. I think Jane probably does still talk to Jennifer, and whatever, you know? I also think that Brad’s parents probably get along with Angelina very well – Angelina has spent a lot of time with the Pitts, and everybody seems to adore the kids/grandkids. But, for argument’s sake, let’s say that ITW is on to something and that Angelina is disturbed by Jane and Jennifer’s relationship. I think that Jane has every right to still have a relationship with Jennifer. But I also think Angelina has every right to say who looks after her kids. Sure, it sounds like Angelina is using the kids as leverage with Jane… but if Jane is a blabbermouth, I could buy it. Eh.

We’ve heard rumors that Brad Pitt is working on some kind of documentary about the impact of the massive oil leak in the Gulf. Pitt is an avid environmentalist with ties to the area through both a mansion his family purchased in New Orleans and the Make it Right project, which builds sustainable homes for Hurricane Katrina Victims. Pitt does appear in a Spike Lee documentary on the area, which will air on HBO tonight. It’s a follow-up to Lee’s 2006 documentary on Katrina, When the Levees Broke. The film, called If God is Willing and Da Creek Don’t Rise, was meant to end with the happy news of the Saints winning the Super Bowl. Sadly, Lee had to continue filming to add on the whole BP disaster, which is where Pitt’s comments come in.

‘If God Is Willing and Da Creek Don’t Rise’ is a four-hour followup to Lee’s 2006 film ‘When the Levees Broke: A Requiem in Four Acts.’

Lee landed an interview with Pitt, who owns a home in New Orleans with partner Angelina Jolie and whose Make It Right organization has built homes post-Katrina.

“I was never for the death penalty before,” he says. “I am willing to look at it again.”

I don’t blame him although I would opt for life in jail without parole – or a lifetime scrubbing rocks for 12 hours a day. The way that whole crisis has been handled is abhorrent. Officials at BP, through their own well documented negligence, are responsible for the deaths of 11 workers along with an environmental crisis that has killed countless sealife and will lead to nearly incalculable effects on the ocean and surrounding area for decades. There are also reports of very troubling illnesses striking fisherman and workers around the spill. It’s not that much of a logical leap to wonder if people in that area are going to be struck with chronic illnesses, not just from exposure to the oil but also from dispersants that are toxic to humans and wildlife.

So for someone like Pitt, who cares deeply about the environment and the people in that area, this whole crisis has got to hit hard. It’s much worse for the people who live there and who don’t have the resources to leave. Pitt knows this, and believes someone should be held accountable. You know they won’t be, though. BP has even been allowed to run a $50 million PR ad campaign touting what a great job they’re doing down there handling the disgusting mess they created. So many people would disagree. Heads aren’t going to roll for so many reasons, but there are plenty of people more affected by this than Pitt who wish they would.

Nick Newcomen travels 12,000 miles with GPS tracking ‘pen’ to emblazon message ‘Read Ayn Rand’ across the US

Some literary fans show their dedication to a particular author by traipsing to book signings or festivals; others track down elusive first editions. Nick Newcomen went a little further than most, spending a month driving more than 12,000 miles to inscribe his message – “Read Ayn Rand” – on a vast swath of US land.

Using a GPS tracking device as a “pen”, Newcomen took about 10 days to complete each word, turning on his GPS logger when he wanted to write and turning it off between letters, videoing himself at landmarks along the route for documentation. He drove 12,328 miles in total, across 30 American states, inputting the data once he was finished into Google Earth to create the world’s largest book advertisement.

“I saw on the internet some GPS ‘penned’ shapes and drawings done by others. They intrigued me because I saw potential there to use GPS to create a ‘written’ message on a very large scale,” said Newcomen.

He decided to point people towards the author because he believes that “‘Read Ayn Rand’ deserves to be the world’s biggest message”.

“She is the only modern author and thinker to offer ideas that have the potential and power to genuinely reshape the world for the better,” he said. “And on a personal level, her books and ideas have been instrumental in helping me achieve success and happiness in life.”

Rand counts among her disciples former chairman of the Federal Reserve Alan Greenspan, along with Brad Pitt, Oliver Stone and Ronald Reagan – although Noam Chomsky once called her “one of the most evil figures of modern intellectual history”. She is best known for her novel Atlas Shrugged, in which she trumpets the right of individuals to look out for themselves even as the world collapses without them (“I will never live for the sake of another man, nor ask another man to live for mine,” says hero John Galt), for her philosophy of Objectivism and her advocacy of “full, pure, uncontrolled, unregulated laissez-faire capitalism”. She has undergone a revival in recent months, with Atlas Shrugged enjoying a boost in sales.

Newcomen listed his top 10 reasons to read the author on a website about his travels: “She explains with refreshing honesty and clarity which basic ideas America must adopt and which it must reject if it is to remain a great nation,” he wrote, and “her ideas in essence are true”.

Other writers hoping for similar endorsements will be disappointed: Newcomen says he has “no plans at this time to do any more GPS ‘writing’”.

One of Hollywood’s Most Handsome Men drives a hard bargain. Brad Pitt has harsh words for those responsible for the oil spill that devastated the Gulf Coast for more than four months. The Oscar-nominated actor says he was against the death penalty before the crisis but he is now “willing to look at it again” after bearing witness to the destruction of his adopted hometown at the hands of BP.

The actor makes the controversial comment during an appearance in the new Spike Lee documentary If God Is Willing and Da Creek Don’t Rise, the sequel to Lee’s 2006 film about Hurricane Katrina, When the Levees Broke.

Brad’s Make It Right initiative has spearheaded efforts to build 150 affordable and sustainable homes in New Orleans Lower Ninth Ward, which was heavily hit by the 2005 natural disaster. When asked about those responsible for the BP oil spill, which has affected the region, the father-of-six replied: “I was never for the death penalty before. I am willing to look at it again.”

Lee’s film was supposed to end on a positive note with the New Orleans Saints’ Super Bowl victory, but when the Gulf of Mexico oil disaster began in April, the 53-year-old director extended filming to include that story.

If God Is Willing and Da Creek Don’t Rise premieres Monday night on HBO.

1 Cameron Diaz – Searching for Diaz results in a one in ten chance of landing on a risky site. She has most recently been in the spotlight with blockbuster movies, “Knight and Day” and “Shrek Forever After.” When “Cameron Diaz and screensavers” was searched, 19 percent of the sites were identified as containing malicious downloads.

2 Julia Roberts – Academy Award-winning actress Julia Roberts is one of America’s sweethearts, and will soon be in the spotlight with her upcoming release of “Eat, Pray, Love.” The overall risk of searching for Roberts is nine percent, yet searching for “Julia Roberts and downloads” results in a 20 percent chance of downloading a photo, wallpaper or other file laden with malware.

3 Jessica Biel – Last year’s Most Dangerous Celebrity fell two spots with searches resulting in fewer risky sites this year. Biel continues to be in the spotlight with her on-again, off-again relationship with Justin Timberlake, and appeared in “The A-Team” in June 2010. While her overall search risk is nine percent, searching for “Jessica Biel and screensavers” results in a 17 percent chance of landing on a risky site.

4 Gisele Bundchen – The world’s highest-paid supermodel moved up two spots since last year. Searching for “Gisele Bundchen and screensavers” can prove risky, 15 percent of the search results for this beauty can put spyware, malware or viruses on your computer.

5 Brad Pitt – Pitt is often in the spotlight with news of his movies and his personal life. It’s no wonder why this leading man has been in the top ten for the past three years. He moved up in rank five spots this year. Downloading photos, screensavers, or other files of Brad can potentially put adware or spyware in your computer.

6 Adriana Lima – Searching for downloads of this Brazilian beauty can direct users to red-ranked sites. Lima is best known for being a Victoria’s Secret Angel since 2000.

7 Jennifer Love Hewitt, Nicole Kidman – Searching for these Hollywood starlets resulted in an equal number of risky download websites.

8 Tom Cruise – With recent buzz around his MTV Awards performance as well as his movie, “Knight and Day,” Cruise rises to the top ten.

Hollywood star Angelina Jolie said after a visit to Sarajevo Saturday she would soon start work on a love story set during the 1992-95 Bosnian War.

Jolie said in a statement issued by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), for whom she is a Goodwill Ambassador, that shooting for the movie would begin in autumn on the tale of a couple who meet on the eve of the war and the effect it has on their relationship.

“The film is a love story, not a political statement,” the statement said.

Jolie arrived Friday for a surprise visit to Sarajevo and Saturday met members of Bosnia’s inter-ethnic presidency to discuss ways to help thousands of returning war refugees.

Jolie visited returnees in eastern Bosnia in April with her partner Brad Pitt and promised then to come back.

She also said the movie’s cast would be comprised of actors from the various ethnicities of the former Yugoslavia.

“I would like to involve as many local people as possible and learn as much as I can,” Jolie said.

Angelina and Brad were just in Bosnia last April, as part of a UNHCR trip. Considering Brad came too, I’m kind of wondering if Brad is going to produce this love story? Plan B (Brad’s production company) keeps trucking along, producing some hits and some misses, but it’s a solid company and I could see Brad producing another vehicle for Angelina, like he did with A Mighty Heart. We’ll see. I just hope that it’s a real film, with a real script and a real character for Angelina, rather than just some haphazard excuse to film a movie in Bosnia and employ a bunch of refugees.
